Rosenborg have no intention of selling Birger Meling.
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic with their prospects appearing to improve with the Norwegian side knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Rosenborg are a well established selling club but reaching the Play-Off stage of the Champions League was worth 5 million euros directly from UEFA with a similar sum likely for being involved from the Europa League.

Birger Meling has been heavily linked to Celtic in recent weeks after the Scots sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal.
After the end of the game against Zagreb on Tuesday, Meling repeats himself against a united press corps. He is calm about everything from speculation, and Bjørn Tore Kvarme takes care of everything about possible transitions. Horneland expects him to finish the season with the same stable.
“We have control over that ourselves. Should that happen, it is because it is profitable to sell. We sit on that control ourselves, so I think it will be quite as it looks now,” says the RBK coach, who is happy with the players he has to work with. “I have said during the summer that I am happy with the squad and that I am happy to keep it. There is plenty to develop and take out of it,” he says.
Meling is under contract until December 2020 with Roseborg looking to have the left-back involved in their Europa League campaign.
Having paid £3m for Boli Bolingoli it’s likely that a greater fee will be required for Celtic to secure Meling who is a regular in the Norway internationalist.
Last night in Sweden Neil Lennon admitted that Celtic were looking at a number of left-back’s with Kilmarnock’s Greg Taylor also believed to be a target.
