The final obstacles to Greg Taylor joining Celtic have been overcome with the 21-year-old on his way to joining the SPFL champions.

Agreement was reached with the player on Saturday but complications kicked in as players were brought in to make it a part exchange deal as the clock started to tick down.

As Saturday turned into Sunday and onto Monday the deal looked to be in doubt with no progress made this morning with Kilmarnock dragging their heels.

When it became clear that Jack Hendry and Calvin Miller weren’t enthusiastic to move to Rugby Park, Kilmarnock decided to look elsewhere with Graham Dorrans coming into the club and Kirk Broadfoot being released.

Late this afternoon VideoCelts understands that it became a straight cash deal between the two clubs with all parties keen to conclude the transfer in advance of tonight’s midnight deadline.

Celtic have been linked with a number of left-backs during the transfer window but with Boli Bolingoli and Taylor at the club Neil Lennon has two quality options for what had been a problem position whenever Kieran Tierney was missing.
