Ewan Henderson has joined Ross County on a season long loan.

The midfielder has only played a couple of minutes of first team football this season, at home to Nomme Kalju in the Champions League, and wil now get a regular football with the SPFL Premiership new bhoys.

The highland club announced:

Celtic midfielder Ewan Henderson has today joined the Staggies on a season-long loan. Henderson, who has represented Scotland at youth level, has had first team experience at Celtic Park and will undoubtedly be a great addition to our squad.

On the signing, Co-Manager Stuart Kettlewell said “We are delighted to bring Ewan in. We believe he will add a different dimension to us in the middle of the park. Obviously coming from Celtic he has an excellent pedigree and is very highly regarded at Celtic Park. Hopefully, he can come in here and continue to develop and get some game time under his belt.”

Henderson signed a new first team contract at the end of January but the return of more experienced players from injury has limited the prospects of the 18-year-old.

Scott Brown, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor have become the first choice midfielders with Olivier Ntcham, Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic as cover, closing the door on Henderson and Luca Connell.

Henderson has been left to keep sharp in matches against Queens Park, Clyde and Falkirk with the move to Dingwall giving him the chance to settle in and get a regular run of matches.

With no Reserve League football Celtic have sent Ross Doohan, Robbie Deas, Daniel Church, Stephen Welsh and now Henderson out on loan to Scottish clubs.
