Celtic could be facing clubs under new management in their next two matches.

Last night Ayr United confirmed that Ian McCall was in talks with Partick Thistle over a return to Firhill as manager.

After throwing away the lead to lose at home to Hearts in the Edinburgh derby Paul Heckingbottom is under heavy pressure with over one hundred Hibs fans protesting outside Easter Road after last night’s match.

Despite sacking Gary Caldwell in midweek there was no upturn in Thistle’s fortunes on Saturday as they hit rock bottom with a 3-0 home defeat from Dunfermline.

Gerry Britton and Kenny Miller took charge of the side but six matches in Thistle have still to record a win in The Championship.

Caldwell was the first Championship boss to get sacked with Heckingbottom replacing Craig Levein as the Premiership boss moss likely to get the sack. After losing 2-1 to Hearts the Hibs boss told The Sun: “I understand the frustrations because the manner of the defeat is a tough one as well.

Have I got confidence that I can turn it around? Yeah, no problem. I’ve got confidence but there’s no hiding place from what’s going on.”

On Wednesday Heckingbottom takes his squad to Ayrshire to take on Kilmarnock in the quarter-final of the Betfred Cup with confidence at rock bottom.

After a burst of form after taking over from Neil Lennon in February things have gone downhill quickly for the former Barnsley boss who has watched his side pick up just one pont since opening their SPFL campaign with a 1-0 home win against St Mirren.
