Cluj warmed up for their return trip to Celtic by beating Gaz Metan 3-0 at home.

Last night’s win kept Dan Petrescu’s side in top place in the Romanian League, three points clear of Vitoral who have played a game less.

All three goals were scored before the hour mark to ensure that Cluj go into Thursday’s match in the best possible condition.

Since winning 4-3 at Celtic Park last month Petrescu’s side have had mixed results in Europe, losing 1-0 home and away to Slavia Prague to miss out on a Champions League group place but bouncing back to beat Lazio 2-1 in their opening Europa League tie.

Until their draw at Hibs Celtic had won every match since losing 4-3 to the Romanian’s with Neil Lennon’s squad significantly boosted.

Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli and Moritz Bauer have been added at the back to make up for the loss of Jozo Simunovic. After being out of action since the start of September Mikey Johnston and Nir Bitton are expected to return to training today.
