Edouard’s chilling message

Odsonne Edouard is as cool and calm in front of the media as he is when sent through one-on-one to face a goalkeeper.

The striker picked up the August Player of the Month award with three issues that could get a 21-year-old carried away.

His icy cold finish at Ibrox put Celtic in the driving seat in the SPFL which was quickly followed by four goals as he picked up his first caps for the French u-21 side. Add in reports of Napoli preparing a £30m offer and there was every reason for the striker to start shouting the odds when he faced the media yesterday.

Edouard has crammed a lot into his career so far with the Daily Record revealing that he won’t be distracted by outside pressures:

The departure of Moussa didn’t feel like it added pressure to me. It just gave me more playing time, more chances to play for the team – and that gave me more opportunity to show what I could do. That’s the natural way to look at it.

We are also lucky this season to have three good strikers, all in form and with no injury problems. It’s much better for the team to have all the players at 100 per cent than maybe one at 70 per cent, because that doesn’t work.

I’m in good form, but not the best of my life. There is still more to come. The important thing for me now is to carry on from where I am at the moment and continue in the same vein.

Mentioning that he’s not in the best form of his career will be welcomed by Celtic fans who appear to be watching a striker that can be discussed and compared with the greats that have delivered goals and success down the years.
