After a 24 hour pause the ‘feel good’ messages are flowing through Ibrox again.

The briefest dose of reality and some self assessment was burst at midnight on Monday when Ryan Kent was signed for an apparent fee of £7m.

There wasn’t a single offer put in front of Liverpool from elsewhere but rather than try to bring in the winger on a cut price deal the word is that Kent is the second most expensive Ibrox signing after Tore Andre Flo.

The distressed signing of the Norwegian accelerated the inevitable race towards administration and liquidation under David Murray with the Kent signing coming less than four weeks ahead of the bill for cutting Sports Direct out of the current merchandise deal.

On that theme Football Scotland, the digital face of the Daily Record, has come up with the bizzare claim that the Ibrox side are outselling Celtic in terms of merchandise.

Celtic’s current kits may not be the most eye-catching produced but with an international operation that that stretches from Dublin to Dubai and backed by Boston based New Balance the true figures of the two clubs will again show a massive contrast when the audited accounts for the 18/19 season are published around the same time as the Mike Asley bill is delivered at Ibrox followed quickly by Sheriff Officers making a visit.
