Even in their moment of grieving, paying respect to a former player Ibrox fans can’t get Celtic and Scott Brown out of their head.

The death of Fernando Ricksen on Wednesday morning triggered an outpouring of grief as fans paid tribute across social media and at Ibrox.

Flowers, scarves and the seriously unhinged could be found outside Ibrox as the media searched out tributes and reactions to the death of the former Zenit St Petersburg defender.

As has been highlighted Ricksen never faced Scott Brown as a Celtic player, perhaps the fan has a memory stretching back to the midfielder playing in the Hibs side that won the 2004 League Cup semi-final on penalties.

Ricksen’s goal against Celtic came in January 2005 either side of strikes from Chris Sutton and John Hartson that put Celtic into the next round of the Scottish Cup which they lifted at Hampden by beating Dundee United.
