Marian Shved has been recalled into the Ukraine national squad for next month’s matches against Estonia in a friendly and the final Euro qualifier against Serbia.

The winger has only made two substitute appearances since moving to Celtic in the summer but could now be in contention for next summer’s European Championship Finals with Ukraine securing their place from a group that also includes Portugal.

Shved will go down as Brendan Rodgers’ final signing but from his ‘we’ve got millions of wingers’ comment it’s clear that the current Leicester City boss had little influence in the deal with Karpaty Lviv.

After returning on loan to Karpaty for the second half of last season Shved was involved in Celtic’s pre-season preparations in Austria and Switzerland.

Shved scored on his debut away to Nomme Kalju in the second round Champions League qualifier but since then he has only played 15 minutes as a substitute in the 6-0 win over Ross County.
