Christopher Jullien has had to wait a little while to celebrate his first Celtic goal.

In almost every match he has played the striker has come close to scoring, against Rennes earlier this month he sent three headers goalwards in the first half but for one reason or another they never crossed the line.

Undeterred, last night he moved into position in the closing minutes as Celtic were tied 1-1 with Lazio.

Suddenly when Ryan Christie’s cross arrived in the penalty box Jullien seemed to be on his own, rising perfectly to head the ball down and goal-wards into the net.

Across the stadium various mobile phones recorded the action, the figure in the distance rising, the ball crossing the line and the elation of close to 60,000 bursting into celebrations.

For Jullien it was the moment that he had dreamed of when he decided to join the club from Toulouse. After turning round to the fans he appeared ‘Superman style’ to tear at his Celtic top to reveal a giant S!

In Italy fans looked on in amazement at the scenes from Glasgow, in France young, aspiring players marvelled at the experiences that Jullien and Odsonne Edouard were enjoying over in Scotland.

And back into the night, off to their buses, trains and cars thousands of fans trooped with fresh memories of another fantastic Celtic Park chapter.
