Odsonne Edouard has been dubbed ‘The Killer’ by the French media ahead of tonight’s u-21 clash in Slovakia.

The Celtic striker has scored doubles in each of his first three u-21 appearances with more of the same expected tonight.

Edouard was a prolific scorer at u-17 level but an incident with an air rifle while on loan at Toulouse put his career on hold before he opted to move on loan to Celtic just over two years ago.

After a highly impressive first season as ‘third choice’ striker Celtic made the move permanent with a club record transfer fee of £9m paid to Paris Saint Germain.

His return to the international scene has been well received by fans and media alike with Eurosport France reporting:

A successful double after barely more than half an hour of play, which suggests a summary of his qualities of “killer” in front of goal. Perfectly served by Houssem Aouar, he did not shake to conclude the flat foot (2nd), before making the break on an individual exploit (36th).

“Odsonne is very efficient, very effective with Celtic, and he has this pace with us, he scored at key moments of the match, which allowed us to roll out, ” said his coach Sylvain Ripoll, after the meeting.

Dembele will be back in Scotland tomorrow with Celtic fans looking forward to seeing their first choice striker in action against Ross County on Saturday followed by the Europa League clash with Lazio a week on Thursday.
