Simone Inzaghi has praised the atmosphere at Celtic Park despite the banners and chants of ‘F*** Lazio during last week’s Europa League tie.

The Lazio boss was speaking after his side moved into sixth place in Serie A with a 2-1 win away to Fiorentina.

Various Scottish media outlets have suggested that Celtic could be fined by UEFA for some of the banners displayed at the match but the manager of the visiting team has nothing but praise for the fans that produced the banners and sang the songs.

The Daily Record reports Inzaghi saying:

The Celtic game is a match I will be telling my children about for many years. In fact, I actually brought my oldest child with me because I knew how good it would be. Yes, we lost to Celtic but they are a quality team who play at a very high pace and to a very good standard. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.

The Glasgow clash attracted the biggest Europa League crowd of the week with more fans at the match than many Champions League fixtures in the previous days.

Lazio now trail Celtic by four points ahead of the meeting between the two clubs in Rome where an away win would guarantee Celtic a place in the knock out phase of the Europa League.

Around 10,000 Celtic fans are expected to be in Rome for the match with the hoops given an official allocation of 9,000 tickets to the Stadio Olympico.
