Michael Owen could have watched any match he liked last night but it was Celtic’s win over Lazio that caught his attention.
With a CV that includes Manchester United, Real Madrid and Liverpool the former England striker has experienced the great European nights at some of football’s greatest cathedrals.
Watching Celtic on European nights however is always a bit different, a bit special.
Usually Celtic Park provides the backdrop to the drama but last night the hoops were replaced by a gold and green combination for the club’s first ever UEFA trip to Rome.
What a game, what a result. @CelticFC through to the knockout stage of The Europa League. Brilliant performance???

The 10,000 fans had been well warned to tone down their exuberance during the trip but inside the Stadio Olympico they gave full backing to Scott Brown’s men on the park.
Drama is in the Celtic DNA, especially in he closing stages with Olivier Ntcham taking the glory with a deft clip over the Lazio keeper that earned cheers around the globe with former England striker Owen watching on delighted by the result.
