This time he wasn’t the star of the show but Christopher Jullien’s joy at beating Lazio was no less.
A fortnight ago the Frenchman scored the dramatic 88th minute winner as Celtic enjoyed a dramatic win over the Italian’s to take control of Europa League Group E.
Last night it was another Frenchman, Olivier Ntcham, that dealt the winning blow, clipping a shot over the Lazio keeper so deep into stoppage time that there wasn’t even time for Fraser Forster to pull off any more saves.
In the Stadio Olympico Celtic had their defensive credentials tested to the full and emerged in credit. Jullien and Kris Ajer were joined by Hatem Abd Elhamed in the centre, James Forrest provided some cover on the right while Jonny Hayes put in an incredible shift on the left.
Fraser Forster did pull off a couple of great saves but he was also bailed out by a goal-line clearance by Jullien in the first half as every member of Neil Lennon’s side played their part in a stunning victory that will long be remembered and celebrated.
