A report from Australia has claimed that Celtic are looking to extend Daniel Arazani’s loan deal with the winger scheduled for a return to first team action against St Mirren on December 26.

Arzani made a 20 minute substitute appearance against Dundee last October during which he tore his ACL bringing his season to a halt.

Celtic signed the winger on a two-year loan deal almost as soon as he joined Manchester City but this season he has been limited to a 45 minute appearance for the reserves against Albion Rovers.

With Celtic having more than half a dozen wingers competing for first team places Arzani has his work cut out to make an impression but the reliable Australian based World Game website claims:

Yet to feature in the first team since tearing his ACL on debut against Dundee 13 months ago, the 2018 FIFA World Cup bolter is targeting the Boxing Day clash at St Mirren as his comeback match, after suffering a bout of patella tendonitis on his operated left knee.

Despite the 20-year-old attacker’s trials and tribulations since arriving at Parkhead 15 months ago, coach Neil Lennon has seen enough in training sessions and several fleeting reserve team outings to petition parent club Manchester City for a loan extension stretching to the end of the 2020-21 season.

Talks are not yet at an advanced stage – but it’s understood Arzani is keen to stay on to put the frustration behind him and show Hoops fans the full repertoire of his talent.

Arzani has been on Instagram recently sharing pictures from Manchester with City playing the key role in his recuperation which involved surgery in Barcelona.

Since he joined Celtic in the summer of 2018 the hoops have signed Marian Shved and Mo Elyounoussi with Mikey Johnston, Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko Flex all pushing through from the reserve squad.
