Neil Lennon doesn’t expect Hatem Abd Elhamed to be available to face Motherwell on Sunday.

The defender overstretched chasing back against Lazio on Thursday night and had to be replaced by Nir Bitton for the last seven minutes.

Moritz Bauer and Jeremie Frimpong have both started recently at right-back and seem certain to come into contention for the visit of third placed Motherwell to Celtic Park.

In his pre-match media conference Lennon explained:

With Elhamed we don’t know the prognosis of that just yet. If we can scan him now there will still be a lot of bleeding around the muscle area so we’ll maybe scan him tomorrow and see the extent of it but I would doubt that he’ll be fit for the weekend.

The former Hapoel Be’er Sheva man played on the right of a back three against Lazio and hardly put a foot wrong in the new look system.

With an international break coming up the 28-year-old is unlikely to be risked giving him time to focus on being available for the match at home to Livingston on November 23.

That match is followed by the home tie against Rennes before the frantic December programme that contains nine SPFL fixtures in 28 days.
