Leigh Griffiths has posted a bold clip on Instagram hinting that he is about to return to action.

The striker made his last first team appearance in the 3-1 win over Hearts at the end of August when he replaced Vakoun Bayo for the last 15 minutes.

A thigh strain followed by a virus has ruled Griffiths out in recent weeks but on Thursday he resumed full training at Lennoxtown with his Celtic team-mates.

Guess who’s back, back again

With Odsonne Edouard playing non-stop and Bayo seeing a specialist tomorrow Neil Lennon would love to welcome back a fully fit and functioning Griffiths into his first team squad.

Last December Brendan Rodgers announced that the former Hibs striker was taking time out from football, although he returned to Lennoxtown towards the end of March he didn’t feature in any matches.

After coming through the pre-season training programme Griffiths scored against Nomme Kalju, St Johnstone and Motherwell but after two months off he needs to prove himself again with Celtic likely to be looking for a striker in the January transfer window.
