Greg Taylor did his Celtic prospects no harm with another impressive 90 minutes for Scotland as Steve Clarke’s side beat Kazakhstan 3-1.

Injuries to Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney opened the door to the former Kilmarnock man who slipped in at left-back and barely put a foot wrong.

Taylor was solid at the back providing a regular out-ball and followed up his assist for John McGinn’s winner in Cyprus with another for the Aston Villa man who completed the scoring in stoppage time against Kazakhstan.

The 22-year-old was linked with Celtic throughout the transfer window but when his deadline day deal was completed it was the day after Boli Bolingoli had turned in an outstanding display at Ibrox.

Taylor had to wait until October 30 to make his debut, in the 2-0 home win over St Mirren, but despite Bolingoli being injured Jonny Hayes has started Celtic’s last two matches.

If called upon Neil Lennon knows that Taylor is ready and able to step in at a moment’s notice.
