Alan Muir will referee Sunday’s match between Celtic and Motherwell, his first appointment of the season involving Neil Lennon’s side.

The Aberdeen based official is best known for being the additional assistant at the Celtic v Inverness Caley Thistle Scottish Cup semi-final in 2015. Despite having a clear view Muir refused to signal when Josh Meekings handled a net-bound header from Leigh Griffiths with referee Steven McLean waving play on.

Sunday’s match will be Muir’s fifth top flight appointment this season, in September he was in charge for Motherwell’s 2-1 home defeat from Ross County where Jake Carrol was sent off after 80 minutes.

After being put in charge of the Betfred Cup semi-finals at the weekend Bobby Madden and John Beaton will be in charge of Championship matches this weekend.

Despite losing his FIFA status Andrew Dallas will be in charge of St Johnstone v Hibs on Saturday, his sixth top flight appointment of the season.
