Vaclav Hladky has revealed that negotiations are underway to take him to Ibrox next summer.

The Saint Mirren keeper made the claim in an interview with The Sun- it remains to be seen if the Paisley side make a complaint to the SPFL about an illegal approach for a player under contract.

The 28-year-old is under contract with St Mirren until 31.5.2020 and can’t discuss a pre-contract agreement with anyone until he is in the last six months of his current deal.

“Rangers are interested in me, some negotiations are under way but playing in England is the big dream,” the goalkeeper told The Sun.

“The biggest dream is the Premier League, but that is a big jump. I know I’ll need to make another step first on the way. I’m not crazy enough to think I can go from St Mirren directly to the English top division.

“Going to the Championship would be ideal for me. That is preferable to staying in Scotland. This will be my last season with St Mirren.

“Negotiations took place about a new contract but we have agreed that my football goals are a little higher than here.”

With Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham out of contract in the summer the Ibrox club will be looking for goalkeeping cover.

After last week’s announcement of losses of £11.3m bringing in a goalkeeper on £3,000/week would make sense but difficult to sell to supporters at season ticket time.
