Linking Rodgers with a Celtic player that worked with until February is very safe ground, the reporter appears to specialise in stories involving Spurs with nothing of substance appearing in his Ajer report, it’s simply a rehash of the highly predictable to pad out the piece.
One gaping hole in this story is called Filip Benkovic. Last August Rodgers took the Croatian on loan to Celtic where he kept Ajer on the side-lines with Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata the first-choice central defensive partnership.
Another reason to doubt the story is the claim that ‘the Northern Irishman brought Ajer to the UK from IK Start in 2016’ which will be news to the player and also Ronny Deila.
Benkovic hasn’t even made the substitute bench for Leicester this season despite the soothing words from Rodgers last season about his brilliance.
