Arrogant Sam Allardyce has dismissed the trophies won by Brendan Rodgers during his spell in charge of Celtic.

The disgraced former England manager earned his reputation as a relegation fire-fighter during short spells in charge of Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Everton after a lengthy spell running up debt at Bolton Wanderers while they stayed in the middle of the EPL.

Mauricio  Pochettino’s sacking at Spurs last week has triggered fresh speculation about a number of jobs with the jobs at Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and Southampton likely to become available before the transfer window closes at the end of January.

Native English managers are at the back on the queue for domestic jobs with Rodgers and Davie Moyes the only British born managers to have been given a leading job in the last decade.

Neither of them had a domestic honour on their CV but after winning eight trophies at Celtic Rodgers returned to Leicester and is believed to have been under consideration from the Spurs directors.

We can all go to Celtic and win trophies. We can all go to, well soon be Rangers I think the way Steven Gerrard is going and start to win trophies again. I think that if you’re at a club that’s like a Celtic or a Rangers, the fans expect you to win trophies and if you don’t do that, you will get the sack.

Moving to Ibrox didn’t do much for the reputation of Mark Warburton or Pedro Caixinha.
