Steven Gerrard has trashed stories linking Glen Kamara with a stunning £8m swoop from Juventus.

Alfredo Morelos is usually linked to ridiculous transfer moves with nothing materialising about mystery offers from China, Mexico, Turkey, France, Germany and England for the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

With no more funds to offer Dave King is walking away as club chairman with a £10m funding gap for the season before a penny is paid to Sports Direct for breach of contract. Next season’s merchandise deal with Hummel has been cut short with the Danish firm expected to join the queue of firms looking for their cash.

Only a January fire sale will keep the lights on until the end of the season with the Mail on Sunday and Daily Record running with the Juve swoop for Kamara story this morning

Asked about the Juve link Gerrard told The Sun:

There’s nothing from Juventus with Glen so I think it’s another made up story. There’s a lot going round at the moment about quite a few of my players but there’s no truth in it.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s top clubs looking at Glen – again he was outstanding, lovely to watch – and as a midfielder myself I really admire his bodywork and his shape, the way he receives the ball.

He’s a very clever footballer and it wouldn’t surprise me if top clubs were monitoring him but there’s no truth in Juventus.

Kamara went to Ibrox in a £50,000 deal from Dundee in January. In over 100 senior matches the 24-year-old has scored twice in his career.
