Neil Lennon has confirmed Celtic’s interest in Andraz Sporar but denied that a bid had been made for the Slovan Bratislava striker.

Slovan chief Ivan Kmotrik claimed that a bid had been made but claimed that it fell short of the €7m-€8m fee that they’d be demanding for the 25-year-old.

A striker appears to be Celtic’s January transfer priority with a quality back up to Odsonne Edouard the obvious requirement.

The former Paris Saint Germain striker has often been the only available striker this season with Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo without an SPFL Premiership goal since August.

We haven’t made a bid. We are looking at options going forward but there’s been no bid from us. He is an option and one of a number we are looking at.

Sporar has scored more than a goal a game in the Slovakian League but crucially netted five times in the Europa League group phase.

This season players can play for two clubs in the UEFA competitions, in previous seasons Sporar would have been cup-tied.
