The SFA have booked the Scotland international side into Murray Park to prepare for next summer’s European Championships- ahead of their own Oriam Centre in Edinburgh.

Steve Clarke’s side base themselves at the Oriam to prepare for international matches at home and abroad but if they negotiate through two rounds of qualifiers they will set up camp at Murray Park for the duration of the tournament.

Scotland host Israel at Hampden in March then, if successful travel to play Norway or Serbia for a place in the European Championships with two matches played at Hampden and one at Wembley.

Today a report in the Daily Record revealed that the Czech Republic have booked into the Oriam after they discovered that the SFA had decided on using Murray Park as their training base.

The Record reports:

Ironically, it was former Rangers flop Libor Sionko who revealed the information this week when he confirmed their preparatory plans for the Finals where they will play two games in Scotland.

Sionko – who is now the Czechs FA’s Team Manager – said: “We went to Scotland twice to look at everything and we had three choices – Rangers, Stirling or Edinburgh.

“I know Rangers well because of my time in Scotland, but the Rangers Training Centre has already been booked by the Scottish national team and Oriam suited us best as an alternative. It’s the highest level training performance centre in Scotland.

“In Edinburgh, we will have peace and quiet and the facilities are excellent. It’s also less than an hour away from Glasgow. The hotel is next to the complex and very modern and it’s just the perfect base for us. We arrive there on June 10.”

The Oriam has a full size indoor pitch which will give teams complete privacy as well as well as a fully equipped Sports Hall, Performance Wing and Medical Centre.
