Steven Gerrard came under attack from Ibrox fans as they watched their side lose 2-1 to Hearts at Tynecastle.

An early second half goal from Ryan Kent should have set the visitors up for three points but the club at the bottom of the SPFL Premiership bounced back with goals from Steven Naismith and Liam Boyce to cause a shock.

After the match Gerrard refused to accept any responsibility, telling the club’s TV station that his side had eight passengers. That is the side that he selected to win the points.

Jon Flanagan was picked to replace the injured James Tavernier but was replaced at half-time after being booked and looked badly out his depth.

At the age of 37 Jermain Defoe toiled against the Hearts defence, twice he was given a two yard start racing in on goal but on both occasions a defender was able to recover and get in a blocking tackle.

There was barely a player in blue that got pass marks with captain Connor Goldson falling on his face for the equaliser while Borna Barisic deflected Boyce’s shot past McGregor for the second goal.

With no money to spend in the transfer window Gerrard will need to lift his eight passengers for a run of home matches against Ross County, Aberdeen and Hibs.
