Hearts are believed to be interested in taking Jack Hendry on loan to Tynecastle.

The defender is way out of the picture at Celtic, with a contract that runs until June 2020 there is no chance of any club coming in to sign the defender on a permanent move.

Hearts are onto their third manager of the season with Daniel Stendel keen to make his impact on the side starting off in defence.

Blackpool and Lincoln have both been linked with an interest in Hendry who was signed from Dundee two years ago in a £1.2m deal.

The Sun reports:

New Tynecastle boss Daniel Stendel has been made aware of Hendry’s availability as he looks to strengthen his squad. Stendel, who is set to appoint ex-Hannover coach Jorg Sievers as his No?2, aims to bolster his defence this month.

Jamie Brandon and John Souttar are crocked, while Ben Garuccio is just back from injury and skipper Christophe Berra is out of favour. Hendry, who has three Scotland caps, has made just one appearance this season.

After joining Celtic Hendry was played at right-back in a number of games but was always viewed as a central defender.

Last season Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata established themselves as the first choice defensive partnership with Kris Ajer and Jozo Simunovic as back up.

This season Hendry made a substitute appearance against Partick Thistle in the League Cup but was left out of the shadow squad that travelled to Cluj last month.
