Vakoun Bayo has requested a loan move out of Celtic.

A year ago the striker joined Celtic in a £2m deal from Dunajska Streda to compete with Odsonne Edouard for a striking role with Leigh Griffiths taking time away from the game.

An injury early on in his Celtic career restricted Bayo to just two substitute appearances last season as Brendan Rodgers was replaced by Neil Lennon.

The Ivorian impressed against Hearts back in August when he scored twice in a 3-1 win even though the SPFL recorded two own goals from the match.

Edouard’s form and injuries have again restricted his appearances with the signing of Patryk Klimala pushing the 23-year-old further down the pecking order.

The Sun reports:

VAKOUN BAYO has requested a loan move away from Celtic in this transfer window. SunSport can reveal the £2million Ivory Coast striker hopes to secure a temporary switch in the coming weeks.

Bayo has made just 13 appearances since moving from Slovakian side Dunajska Streda last January. The 23-year-old has been hampered by injury during his 12 months in Glasgow and is desperate to get games under his belt.

The arrival of Polish striker Patryk Klimala has pushed Bayo further down the pecking order at Celtic. It’s understood Dutch and Swiss clubs have already shown an interest but the striker hasn’t ruled out a loan switch to another Premiership side if he gets the right offer.

This season Bayo has started two matches and came on as a substitute in 10 others including away to Rennes where he picked up a red card.

His last appearance was away to Cluj last month when he replaced Lewis Morgan midway through the second half.
