Steven Gerrard claimed that he had EIGHT passengers in his side that lost 2-1 to Hearts today.

After apparently lifting the SPFL Premiership title on December 29 there was no roaring into the Sky Sports cameras at the end of today’s match at Tynecastle.

£7m man Ryan Kent put the visitors in front in the 48th minute but ten minutes later Steven Naismith equalised before former Burton Albion striker Liam Bryce struck the winner in the 83rd minute.

Hearts survived three minutes of stoppage time and some baffling decisions from Steven McLean before they were able to celebrate their third league win of the season.

As Daniel Stendal savoured the moment Gerrard went into a very dark place as he slaughtered his Derby Day heroes on his club’s in-house TV service.

It’s the first time in 100 games that I haven’t recognised me team both in and out of possession over 90 minutes. So very disappointed, I hope it takes another 100 before I see it again. We deserved nutin out of that football match.

Asked if it was just an off day, he replied:

No. I think that is the cop out for me and I don’t think that our supporters deserve for me to stand here and say ‘it’s just a bad day at the office’. It’s not just a bad day at the office, we’re Rangers and I should at least recognise us trying to do the right things, the things that we work on every single day.

But we were outfought, out battled. We had 5, 6, 7, 8 passengers and, as I say, it’s the first time that I’m er it is the first time that I’ve been shocked by a performance by us.

In his long distinguished career Gerrard has won less title medals than Karamoko Dembele.
