Last night’s Sportsound show on Radio Scotland was explosive as Michael Steward tackled one of the major issues in media coverage of Scottish football.

BBC host Kenny MacIntyre was joined by Darryl Broadfoot, Communications Manager at the SFA with Michael Stewart also in the studio.

Alfredo Morelos’ interview with Sky Sports was discussed in detail with MacIntyre keen to focus on the issue of racist treatment of the Ibrox striker with a focus on the December 29 Glasgow derby.

A month after the match not a shred of evidence has been produced to support the claim of racist abuse while the BBC and other give credibility to the bizarre notion that the cut throat gesture by Morelos actually means ‘Game Over’ in Colombia.

Rather than focus on the Sky Sports interview in which Morelos spoke in Spanish Stewart decided to employ some joined-up thinking as he put a series of incidents and events together.

Highlighting reports last week that Morelos’ car brakes had been tampered with the former Hearts midfielder had been implicated in some bizarre link to the car incident.

Stewart put together that incident, a completely different version that was published in the Sunday Mail with the Sky Sports interview set up in-between.

The man behind the scenes was named repeatedly. MacIntyre stated on a couple of occasions that those were the comments of Stewart to distance Radio Scotland from those views.

Normally the Sportsound podcast is available within two hours of the show ending, overnight it has yet to appear on the BBC Scotland website although some recordings were surfacing on social media.
