The prospect of Steven Gerrard being sacked has gone mainstream.

In December, after 18 months in the job, the Liverpool legend signed a new contract to extend his commitment to Ibrox.

Winning the derby clash at Celtic Park against the odds on the best betting apps for UK was confirmation that the right decision had been made but five matches into 2020 questions are being asked about Gerrard and his style of management.

Within the space of ten days he claimed that he was bored watching his team against Stranraer, that they carried eight passengers against Hearts while questioning whether they had the bottle to win a championship.

After drawing 0-0 at home to Aberdeen Gerrard was more restrained but he still managed to name check Alfredo Morelos and Nicola Katic for mistakes in the match.

Before the final whistle against Aberdeen the anger was evident, by Sunday evening the gap in the SPFL Premiership had been stretched to seven points.

Yesterday the Glasgow Times, formerly the Evening Times, took an unusual step under the headline ‘European success won’t spare under-fire Rangers boss Steven Gerrard from the sack’ as they mentioned what would have been unthinkable at the end of December.

IT didn’t take long after the final whistle had blown at the end of the 0-0 draw with Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday for those Rangers supporters who had booed the players off the park to direct their ire towards the manager Steven Gerrard.

He has to be held accountable. He takes too long to make substitutions. Why is he playing him? He hasn’t figured out how to break down a 10 man defence. He makes baffling decisions. He’s too cautious. He isn’t learning from his mistakes. He lacks the necessary experience for the job. Why isn’t he playing him? Social media websites and internet message boards rapidly went into meltdown.

There is a limitless supply of content available to be picked up from social media, selecting calls for Gerrard to be sacked indicates that the unthinkable may be possible before this season is over.
