Hatem Abd Elhamed has posted an injury update, hinting at his return to first team football.

The defender picked up a groin injury late on during Celtic’s Europa League win away to Lazio then suffered a set-back during the winter training camp in Dubai.

Jeremie Frimpong proved to be a more than adequate replacement but the former Manchester City kid is also on the injured list after being on the wrong end of a brutal challenge during last month’s 3-1 win away to Kilmarnock.

Elhamed’s return will give Neil Lennon a number of options in defence but after making just three appearances in the SPFL Premiership he remains something of an unknown quantity.

The former Hapoel Beer Sheva defender started Celtic’s first four matches in the Europa League and looks like being available for the Round of 32 match away to Copenhagen on February 20.
