The angry statement from Ibrox last night has been virtually ignored by the mainstream media but has attracted criticism from journalists on social media.

Normally the most banal statement from Ibrox can be assured of blanket coverage but having fired off criticism at almost every branch of the media last night’s comments could see an about turn in coverage of the club.

Last week the Alfredo Morelos Sky Sports interview was given blanket coverage until it was highlighted that the translation bore little relation to the words from the Colombian.

Ewan Murray is the Guardian’s golf correspondent and a keen Hearts fan.

Media outlets don’t like being made to look foolish, they are already in a losing battle with digital and social media and could do without those sort of own goals.

BBC Scotland was the only outlet named in yesterday’s statement but it doesn’t take a Private Investigator to read between the lines to pick up on the message. Searing anger.

With a number of other issues swirling around Ibrox the club may find a little closer scrutiny of their business with sympathy and support running low as their PR operation fires out own goals.
