Michael Stewart put the blame for Celtic’s Europa League exit on the shoulders of Kris Ajer and Jozo Simunovic.
After a few minor warnings during the first half the roof fell in after the break with Simunovic presenting Santos with the opening goal in the 51st minute.
That goal put Celtic on the ropes but the introduction of Leigh Griffiths and Ajer’s return to central defence led to an improvement with Odsonne Edouard equalising from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.
What happened next doesn’t make for pleasant viewing. Half of the team were implicated in the second and third goals for Copenhagen. Rather than consolidate their position the Celtic side fell to pieces with the Danes taking full advantage.
Afterwards Neil Lennon had to field the questions as an inquest began, this morning the focus moves on swiftly towards St Johnstone on Sunday and the chance to reach the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
In August the Celtic squad bounced back quickly from being knocked out of the Champions League, a similar recovery is required this time with 3pm on Sunday the time to start.
