Michael Stewart has replied to the mountain of support that he has received since speaking out on Sportsound on Monday night. And added a tweet in Spanish!

The former Hearts and Hibs midfielder has developed a reputation for independence of thought which keeps him in demand with BT Sport and the Scottish Sun.

Stewart is also a regular on Radio Scotland but his opinions go against the grain with panels full of ‘experts’ like Billy Dodds, Neil McCann, Kris Boyd, Alex Rae, Steven Thompson and others with views that are entirely predictable.

As host Kenny MacIntyre tried to stick to the inaccurately translated comments of Alfredo Morelos through Sky Sports Stewart highlighted a bigger picture as he linked a series of events together.

MacIntyre could hardly contain his anger at the thoughts of Stewart with the show going out live. Across social media the show was gaining much unexpected credibility as home truths emerged.

Radio Scotland refused to upload the show into podcast form, at the start of tonight’s show an apology was issued although there was no direct reprimand for Stewart.

It remains to be seen whether Stewart will be invited back onto Radio Scotland who had the very safe hands of Derek Ferguson and James McFadden in their studio tonight.
