With Lewis Morgan completing his transfer to Inter Miami yesterday there was one loose end to be tied up in Celtic’s transfer business. Luca Connell.

On Thursday morning there were reports of interest from Barnsley and Sunderland for the midfielder who made 14 first team appearances last season for Bolton.

Celtic brought Connell north last summer but as others have found out breaking into the Celtic midfield is no easy task with Nir Bitton, Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic struggling to displace Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie.

It should have been fairly straightforward to sort out a loan deal with Sunderland, Connell’s old boss at Bolton, Phil Parkinson is now in charge at the Stadium of Light.

As Thursday turned into Friday there was no word of a deal for Connell, loan moves were being confirmed throughout the day on Sky Sports News but there was no sign of Connell moving out.

Saturday’s Twitter has been unable to shed any light on Connell’s whereabouts, perhaps a loan deal to Scandinavia could be arranged, Kundai Benyu moved to Helsingborgs a year ago but for whatever reasons Connell won’t be turning out for Sunderland or Barnsley this season.
