Chris Sutton believes that panic as set in at Ibrox with Celtic 10 points clear in the SPFL title race.

At the end of December there was next to nothing between the two Glasgow clubs with Celtic two points ahead having played at extra game.

After a tricky run of away matches covering Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Aberdeen Celtic have extended their advantage at the top to 10 points while stretching 18 clear in terms of goal difference.

While Celtic are awash with goalscorers leaving Ryan Christie and Moi Elyounoussi on the bench at Ibrox Alfredo Morelos has managed one goal in 2020 with record signing Ryan Kent substituted after 55 minutes of the win over Livingston.

Steven Gerrard has slaughtered his players after defeats at Hearts and Kilmarnock amid rumours that things aren’t right behind the scenes.

Sutton was on BT Sport duty at the Kilmarnock v Hibs match with The Sun picking up on his observations over the situation at Ibrox.

He told BT Sport: “I think there’s a great deal of panic set in. I think they had won every away game up until Hearts, it’s absolutely set in. And the manner of the loss the other night… the truth is Kilmarnock were better than Rangers in the second-half.”

Before losing to Hearts last month Gerrard’s side had drawn away to Hearts and Aberdeen. With 11 matches left to play, the majority of them at home, Celtic are 10 points clear in their quest for a ninth successive league title.
