Football fans throughout the country are gearing up for a special tribute to NHS staff.

On Thursday at 8pm folk took to their doorways, driveways and balconies to applaud the health workers in the front line of the battle against Coronavirus.

Today is the third weekend without the national sport with football fans being urged at 3pm today to #flytheflag and make a donation to NHS charities.

As the biggest support in the country Celtic fans will be out in force to show their support for the health workers while waiting to see when their favourites will be back in action.

Three weeks ago Leigh Griffiths was leading the way with a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over St Mirren but the world will have changed greatly when the bhoys get back in action.

Discussing today’s show of support for NHS staff a SNACK Media spokesman said: “In difficult times, sport is often a way to escape into a different reality and to feel a sense of community and belonging. For a long time, we’ve not needed this feeling quite as much as we do today.

“That’s why we’re working hard to bring the community together, and we invite everyone to participate by flying your flag, wearing your colours and donating to charities who need support during this crisis. It’s important that we all support the essential workers who are in the front line of the battle to fight the virus.

“We will beat Coronavirus and when we do, sport will bring us all together once more. But for now, we can all show unity and feel connected again by flying our flags from 3pm onwards on Saturday, 28th March and thereafter.”

After creating your videos and taking pictures please share on social media alongside the #flytheflag tag.
