Celtic showed the form of champions to crush St Mirren 5-0 as Neil Lennon’s side close in on a ninth successive SPFL title.
In midweek the hoops had dropped their first points of 2020 in a 2-2 draw at Livingston but the destiny of the points was never in doubt as Neil Lennon’s side returned to home comforts.
Leigh Griffiths and Tom Rogic were restored to the starting XI with the striker bagging two first half goals- the second from a brilliant exchange of passes with the Australian midfielder.
Odsonne Edouard extended Celtic’s lead after the break before Griffiths ended a four year wait to complete his hat-trick.
There was to be one more goal with Callum McGregor netting from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
Lennon can now enjoy the novelty of a week on the training ground to prepare for the Glasgow derby knowing that a win at Ibrox will take his side to within touching distance of winning the title.
