John Hartson wasn’t too bothered by Celtic’s lead at the top of the SPFL table being reduced by three points this afternoon.

A shot deflected into his own net by Dick Forster gave Steven Gerrard’s side full points but there was little in the win over Ross County to worry Celtic or Bayer Leverkusen.

After back-to-back defeats from Hamilton and Hearts any sort of win was welcomed by Gerrard who witnessed another uninspiring 90 minutes from his side.

In contrast Celtic were slick and decisive around goal as they beat St Mirren 5-0 on Saturday with a hat-trick from Leigh Griffiths the highlight of the afternoon.

The striker managed three goals in August but had to wait until January to add to his tally when he opened the scoring in the Scottish Cup win away to Partick Thistle.

Yesterday’s hat-trick took his total in 2020 to eight goals with his return also boosting the form of Odsonne Edouard who scored Celtic’s third goal with Callum McGregor the other scored in the 5-0 win.

Celtic go into Sunday’s derby 13 pints clear with a goal difference advantage of 25.
