Potential saviour Stuart Gibson has refused to discuss ‘ploughing his millions’ into Ibrox.

On March 17, four days after Scottish football was suspended the Daily Record introduced Gibson as the man to take over from Dave King after secret visits to Ibrox and investment talks with the board.

Originally from Paisley, Gibson has been in Asia for the last twenty years with his company having assets of more than £1.5billion under its management.

King’s sharp exit has raised more questions about the liquidity of a company that admitted in November that it had a £10m shortfall for this season but Gibson seems remarkably shy about discussing when he’ll be ploughing in his millions.

Covering the consequences of King’s departure, the Daily Record reports:

Over the last week Record Sport has twice reached out to potential new moneyman Stuart Gibson, attempting to ascertain if the pandemic crisis will have any impact on the timing of his investment or on the amount of cash he may be able or willing to pump in.

On both occasions a source close to Gibson’s business empire in the Far East declined to answer, saying only that there is “no information on that right now”.

Two and a half hours after King announced his departure to the Press Association a statement was made from Ibrox announcing their delight at Douglas Park becoming Interim Chairman.

Tellingly there was just one sentence praising King’s contribution, not from the club or Park but from Deputy Chairman John Bennett thanking the recently departed chairman.
