Neil Lennon is worried about what sort of shape Scottish football will be in when it comes out of suspension.

Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen have gone public with their concerns over a suspension closer to six months than three at a critical point in the year when season ticket money comes in.

With uncertainty about jobs fans will struggle to justify splashing out on season tickets as the new reality is assessed.

No-one can predict what the Scottish football landscape will look like in six months time with Lennon fearing that the progress of recent seasons could be wiped out.

Speaking to The Sun the Celtic boss said:

Do I have sympathy for the clubs and people in football? Definitely. There are great guys out there throughout the game and plenty of good football people.

So it is important we keep these clubs afloat and we maintain the Scottish game as it is because it is strong. Or it was strong until this current situation arose.

It was a really good product we have had for the size of the country. So we must try all we can to keep it that way.

All the clubs want the season finished and all the countries and associations want that. We’re no different but we can’t put dates on things and a lot of clubs are going to need financial support from associations.

With the country in lock-down the prospect of football resuming is a non-starter.

Scottish football’s Joint Response Group have had little to add over the last week as they look to UEFA who Governments for the next move.

Once a resume date is known some degree of planning can begin but from Lennon’s comments the priority will be to keep clubs afloat.
