The likelihood of Sunday’s Glasgow derby being called off has increased with UEFA postponing next week’s fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League.

Last night a number of Europa League matches were played behind closed doors with the matches in Sevilla and Milan postponed.

The impact of the Coronavirus has caused unprecedented upheaval across football with the landscape changing on an hourly basis.

Last night Arsenal revealed that Mikel Arteta had tested positive with their game tomorrow at Brighton postponed. Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odio has also tested positive with Everton announcing that all players had been put into self-isolation.

All of these developments have taken place since the Scottish First Minister announced restrictions on mass gatherings coming into force on Monday.

That would allow the Glasgow derby to go ahead but with PFA Scotland calling for matches to be postponed that decision seems certain to be reviewed today.

All of the English Premier League clubs are meeting this morning in London, if they announce the postponement of the weekend fixtures it will put more pressure on the SPFL and Scottish government to immediately postpone their weekend fixtures.
