Darren Bent appears to believe that he has a greater grasp of Company Law than leading auditor Deloitte and the board of the SPFL.

Going head-to-head with the former Spurs and Sunderland striker the SPFL can call on Connor MacLennan and Karyn McCluskey who have more extensive corporate experience than Bent.

The former striker’s views on Alfredo Morelos and Odsonne Edouard are certainly worth taking on-board although it’s not known how often he has watched either player live.

According to Bent, Celtic are heading for title heartache over an SPFL vote that was supported by more than 80% of clubs, most of whom will have had a legal mind in their boardroom to review the proposal made by the board of the SPFL.

Picking up on the latest batch of statement that have said nothing in particular the former England striker tells Football Insider:

The only thing I can see happening after this whole situation is (to) null and void it. I think if they can’t get some kind of decision where they can all get on side, I think they’ve just got to null and void it.

With the whole voting system up there it’s a shambles, it’s an absolute shambles so I think what can they do?

At the end, the SPFL are going to have to make a decision by themselves and say if we can’t all get on the same page, what other options are there?”

Null and Void isn’t close to an option for the SPFL, it would result in mayhem for the Scottish game with sponsors, broadcasters and season ticket holders starting the queue for a refund.

In sport there are winners and losers, in votes there are winners and losers, it is the nature of life.

Clubs aren’t going to get on the same page on this issue. The SPFL won’t rush into any final decision but there is a reason that they have corporate heavyweights like MacLennan and McClusky on their board and not media friendly ex footballers like Bent.

Decisions will be made, clubs will be nominated for European competitions. Some clubs will be satisfied, others won’t but those proposing Null & Void should stick to opinions on multi-million-pound strikers and other bread and butter matters.
