Hampden sources are completely in the dark about the dynamic information held by Douglas Park’s whistle-blower.

Since April 11 when the call was made to suspend Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie there has been a stream of statements and information leaked from Ibrox to favoured publications.

Hard information has been thin on the ground with Inverness Caley Thistle chief Scot Gardiner in hiding after revealing selected details of his WhatsApp chats to his friends at Radio Scotland.

After gaining the support of Hearts and Stranraer, but notably not Aberdeen, Caley Thistle or Partick Thistle, an EGM will be held on May 12 with the focus firmly on Park to produce evidence to live up to the hype.

Covering the issue in the Daily Record Keith Jackson reports:

Hampden sources insist they are ‘utterly bemused’ by Rangers claims which appear to point to corruption at the highest level of the game in this country.

One told Record Sport last night: “People are genuinely scratching their heads and wondering what on earth Rangers are trying to suggest. It will be fascinating when this evidence is finally produced and placed in the public eye.”

Rangers, though, want clubs to back their call for the SPFL’s feet to be held to the fire. Among other things, they want a probe into the circumstances leading up to the vote to end the current campaign and the information which was given by the SPFL board to all 42 clubs.

They also want the investigation to look into the decision to announce the result of the vote while Dundee’s position had not been declared – and the Dens Park club’s subsequent dramatic U-turn from a no vote to a yes. And they believe the part played by chief executive Neil Doncaster in all of this also needs to be put under a microscope amid suggestions of back channelling between Hampden and a number of other swithering clubs.

Now that they have their EGM any further statement from Ibrox is even more pointless than usual, it’s time for Park to finally put up.
