Dave King has been removed as a Director of Rangers International Football Club (PLC).

Last Friday the South African based businessman announced to PA Sport that he was stepping down as chairman but he was expected to stay on as a director.

With a shareholding of 25.58% (in the name of New Oasis Asset Limited) King remains a significant figure at the club but his removal as a director keeps him out of decision making.

Other than a brief statement on Friday night, two and a half hours after King’s announcement, there has been no comment from inside Ibrox.

Douglas Park has taken over as Interim Chairman but made no comment on King walking away without delivering on the investment through a new share issue that he had promised to shareholders at the AGM in November.

That was prompted by the club accounts recording a £10m shortfall for this season with no record of any recent investment.

While supporters have been thanking King across social media it seems that the club has cold shouldered him with no official announcement about his removal as a director.
