In an ideal world Scott Brown wants to extend Celtic’s lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

At the turn of the year Celtic held a two point lead but 10 games later their advantage has been stretched to 13 points.

With eight matches left to play it seemed to be only a matter of time before 9-in-a-row was clinched but on March 13 Scottish football was suspended.

Over the course of 30 matches Celtic had dropped just 10 points as they snuffed out their noisy neighbours but after six weeks without a ball being kicked Celtic’s dominance appears to be forgotten by some.

Covering his interview with Sky Sports, The Sun quotes Brown saying:

We’ve had a fantastic season. We’re sitting 13 points clear with eight games to go so we’re in a privileged position.

It’s been a long, hard season. We’ve won a cup already and we’re in a semi-final of another cup. So we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

We obviously want to finish the games because we want to finish the season but if the government decide to call it then that’s up to them.

If we get to that Nine in a Row, we’re 13 points clear, we’re in a great position just now. Our goal difference is a lot better as well, it’s plus 25 so we’re sitting in a great position.

We want to finish the season but nobody in the world would have thought this would have happened so we need to play it day by day and see what happens.

We want the season to finish so we can play out all the games and we can get the trophy and we think that if we continued playing the way we were playing we could extend our lead as well at the top.

On Thursday UEFA announced that they would allow each national association to decide their competitions based on sporting merit with entry to next season’s Champions League and Europa League permitted.

Using the same basis that awarded Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers their divisional titles Celtic would be awarded the Premiership title with an average of 2.67 points per match.
