Simon Donnelly put the social into social media as he relived Celtic’s 1998 League win.
It was the first time in a decade that Celtic lifted the trophy with the winning match against St Johnstone bringing in all the pain and tension of that dark decade.
Donnelly could have been the hero the previous week when he scored away to Dunfermline but a late goal from Craig Falconbridge meant a very tense and often sleepless night for every Celtic fan.
With a two point lead over Walter Smith’s Rangers side Celtic had the title in their hands but a further slip and the chants of ‘Ten in a Row’ would have been heard throughout the summer and beyond.
Goals from Henrik Larsson and Harald Brattbakk don’t begin to tell the story of that May afternoon in 1998, forever and a day supporters can debate the significance of the game in Celtic’s history.
Under Dick Advocaat the next two titles went to Ibrox to make it 11 out of 12 but crucially in 1998 Donnelly and his team-mates halted their winning run.
The current crop of Celtic fans are anticipating a second nine-in-a-row but if it wasn’t for Wim Jansen’s team the bench-mark may have been much higher.
It was far from a vintage season but the tension was unbearable throughout. Whatever happens in the coming decades Henrik, Harold and the rest of the team from 98 will be as revered as any other Celtic side.
On Twitter tonight Donnelly relived the match as it was shown on BBC Scotland, replying to almost all of the questions sent by grateful fans.
98 game on again ………where does the rate in importance in history of @CelticFC ? Thoughts?

imo, it’s the joint 3rd most important league title in our history tied with the centenary season. Our most important league title was 1965/66 because that gained us entry to the European Cup the following season and then the 2nd most important was 73/74 (the OG 9 in a row)
