The Chief Sports Reporter for The Times believes that UEFA are ready to follow the SPFL and allow domestic leagues to be decided by average points per game.
Last week there were predictable cries of outrage when Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers were awarded the lower league titles after a proposal from the SPFL board was backed by 80% of clubs.
Hearing UEFA’s executive committee has just decided that if leagues do not finish then qualification for Champions League/Europa League should be on sporting merit (which sounds like points per game)

Until now UEFA has been pushing back the deadline for league to be completed but over the last fortnight other factors have come into play.
The Belgian Pro League announced their intention to award Club Brugge the 2019/20 title with 11 matches left to play. Yesterday the Dutch Government announced that no football would be played before September 1.
Those developments have shifted UEFA’s focus from the current season to next season’s competitions with their Executive meeting today to discuss the on-going situation.
With clubs voting in favour Celtic will be awarded the 2019/20 title based on average points of 2.67 per game, comfortably clear of the 2.31 per match that Steven Gerrard’s side has collected over 29 matches.
