Victor Wanyama has admitted that he has unfinished business with Celtic.

The midfielder was one of the transfer gems from Neil Lennon’s first spell in charge of the club- the template Celtic signing of the time.

Costing £1m from Belgian side Beerschot in 2011 he left Celtic two years later to join Southampton for a £12m profit after taking the hoops to two SPL titles and starring in the Champions League including a goal against Barcelona.

After leaving Southampton for Spurs injuries hampered his career, last summer and again in January he was linked with joining Celtic but in the end he moved to the MLS where he joined Montreal Impact.

Asked about the Celtic speculation Wanyama told The Athletic:

They need to let you grow and achieve what you want. But I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club.

Lennon has spoken highly of Wanyama since he returned to Celtic last summer.

During 2019 there were regular concerns about the condition of his knees, at the age of 28 he is young enough to return to Celtic if he can prove his fitness with Montreal Impact.
